Pasta from scratch

When I got the Kitchen Aid last year i knew i wanted the pasta maker to go with it some day. Ahhh... and it is indeed what i had hoped it would be! So much work, but oh so good. I started with a simple egg pasta recipe so i could get the hang of getting a good textured dough. With that I made my traditional homemade bolognese sauce and served this in hand made pottery bowls, the results were perfection!

Next on my list is ravioli and soon after a pesto lasagna!

New Recipes

I havent been experiementing in the kitchen much lately, I find it hard to cook at all when its hot and humid outside, I actually dont have much of an appetite to tell you the truth. But today is rainy and well I just feel inspired to try something new. I am in LOVE, not just like, but LOVE with this blog! www.101cookbooks.com Everything on here I want to try.... and just might make it a goal this fall and winter when cooking is much more inspiring. I found this make over project on another blog. I am madly in LOVE with it! I have always kinda liked those vinyl lettering on walls, but just always thought it would be nice to design something myself. And of course, I love to write, and use text when I can. THIS IS PERFECT!!! I love it and have the tools to do it! I hope to have a project of my own to show you on here some day!

Spring projects!

With warm sunny days come inspiration for many projects I only have space to do outdoors! I love all seasons and i especially love the changing of seasons! We are having a ridiculously early spring this year and i am loving getting back to jogging, walking around our property eagerly looking for my garlic to sprout and flower beds to start growing. Over the weekend I got inspired to start a new project, buy seeds, and build a cabinet (all by myself might i add). It was a great spring weekend!!

My new amazing "hide it all" desk that I got off of kijiji, inspired by this lovely lady on her blog Jordan Ferney/Oh Happy Day After seeing this blog I immediately looked on the Ikea website to see how much they were new! And as I thought they were way out of our budget, so i started looking on Kijiji, there was nothing local so i thought i'd look between here and Halifax and here and Bathurst as those would be reasonable places to travel if i found a good deal. Nothing! So then i remebered my dad was in Ottawa with his van and moving trailer to move someone to Moncton so I looked at Ottawa and surrounding area and to my best of luck, there it was, great condition, and GREAT price. So here it stands in my living room, waiting to be painted this summer! This will be a BIG painting project!

Nigella's Chocolate Cloud Cake

My sweet friend (sister from another mother and father) bought me a cook book by Nigella Lawson for Christmas. She saw me gawking at it one day at Chapters and then went back the next day to surprise me with it. Nigella is an amazing cook that was introduced to me by a friend from England recently, her cook books are so well written. I love reading what she has to say as much as I love to read the actual recipes. She has an amazing relationship with food which I totally relate to! So with the help of my new toy (the KitchenAid stand mixer) i attempted my first recipe from her book, CHOCOLATE CLOUD CAKE. I was looking for a wheat free and sugar free desert as you remember from my resolutions and this recipe has no flour and just a little bit of sugar, so I gave it a go, and my oh my was it delicious!! Though i would like to try it again as mine didn't seem to rise as much as Nigella's, i don't think anyone noticed the difference except for me though.
